Major Community Activities

Webequie has always been a traditional meeting place for hundreds of years. This aspect of our culture continues to this day.

Webequie hosts several community activities throughout the year. A very busy time is the Christmas season. Webequie holds an annual community gift exchange. This exchange includes all people residing in the community, including employees of the school, nursing station and Band office.

Webequie also holds various celebrations during the year, including several feasts. As the name implies, food is in great abundance at the feasts, and wild game, fish and bannock is usually featured. Everyone is invited to attend, and this invitation includes all people who are visiting the community.

Various sports tournaments are also held throughout the entire year. These tournaments are well attended and include teams and fans from other northern communities. Webequie Recreation news is available from their web page.

The community also has weekly dances and bingos.
